LG Energy Solution showcases various ESS products based on its expertise in developing and manufacturing high-performance, high-quality batteries. It produces ESS for different purposes, including power grid, commercial, residential use, and uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS). It is also focusing on eco-friendly management by recycling waste batteries for ESS.

LG Energy Solution’s ESS products have three leading competitive edges.
First is the application of highly advanced technology in battery cells for ESS. LG Energy Solution manufactures battery cells using the “Lamination & Stacking” method. This technique efficiently utilizes the space inside the pouch cases, thereby enhancing the energy density and enabling the production of batteries that deliver consistent and uniform energy output. Such stable and high-performance battery cells form the foundation of its quality ESS batteries.

Second is the achievement of high-capacity yet compact-size ESS products for space efficiency. The employment of polymer battery cells has allowed the realization of this space efficiency. Using these cells, LG Energy Solution has created thinner and smaller sizes for both the power grid and residential ESS.

Last is that LG Energy Solution offers customized ESS batteries. It not only provides products in various battery forms like cells, packs, and racks, but also designs ESS products tailored to specific applications and purposes.

LG Energy Solution’s Home ESS Products “Prime+” and “enblock”

LG Energy Solution offers a wide range of ESS products. Among all, let’s explore the residential ESS products and technology targeting the North American and European markets.

▶ “Prime+” released onto the North American Battery Market

LG Energy Solution launched Prime+, targeting the North American market. The product lines include Prime+ 10H and 16H. Prime+ 10H has a total capacity of 19.2 kWh, and Prime+ 16H boasts 32 kWh. Both products can use two modules in parallel.

Prime+ is gaining attention in the market thanks to its numerous advantages. Prime+ has an inverter that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) on-board, facilitating quick and simple installation. Moreover, it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to commission the inverter and ESS battery, which is a notably short time. Another significant advantage is that Prime+ is compatible with existing solar power systems. 

▶ “enblock” Targeting the European Market

The new home ESS brand, enblock, will soon be available in the European battery market. It consists of two models: enblock E and enblock S.

To begin with, enblock E is the first from LG Energy Solution to apply the LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) pack. Thanks to LG Energy Solution’s advanced processing technology, the energy density of the LFP battery has been significantly improved, thereby enhancing the quality of enblock E. Another notable feature of enblock E is its expandability. By simply inserting ESS battery packs, it can be expanded to a maximum of 5 modules, reaching a total capacity of 15.5 kWh. This feature is expected to provide various solutions tailored to individual customer needs.

On the other hand, enblock S features NCM (Nickel, Cobalt, Manganese) batteries. This model boasts the advantage of being both wall-mountable and standalone, making it highly convenient for users. Like enblock E, enblock S offers the flexibility to expand capacity with multiple modules. It utilizes a stackable module structure, allowing for the configuration of up to 5 modules, collectively providing a total capacity of 17.1 kWh.
