At LG Energy Solution Wrocław, there is one employee who has developed a deep passion for brewing, crafting his own unique beers. It is Jakub Szczypinski from the Process Technology Department who shares his handcrafted beers with family, friends, and colleagues, bringing them joy with every pour. In this episode of Charging Moment, we take a closer look at his story and the passion behind this extraordinary hobby.

Hi! I’m Jakub Szczypinski. Since the end of 2022, I have been working in the Process Technology Department at LG Energy Solution Wrocław, where I’m in charge of maintaining measurement equipment.
Recently, I’ve been deeply immersed in a unique hobby—brewing my own beer. I started brewing in a small corner of my kitchen in 2019 and gifted about 20 liters of homemade beer to my family and friends. Seeing their excitement and happiness when receiving my beer sparked a dream of opening my own craft brewery one day. And in less than two years, that dream became a reality—I started running a brewery with my partners.
The brewing process consists of eight key steps. It begins with envisioning what kind of beer I want to create—how the beer should look, taste, and smell. Then, I set a brewing date, order necessary raw materials, and thoroughly check each step of the process. Once the brewing is complete, the beer is transferred to fermentation tanks, where it matures for one to two months. Finally, when fermentation is complete, the beer is bottled and distributed to stores.

The most crucial part of brewing is managing every step with care and precision. The final product should taste exactly as envisioned, and maintaining impeccable hygiene throughout the process is essential. That’s why I set strict quality standards and make sure every batch meets them.
Running a brewery has also come with its fair share of unforgettable moments. One of the most memorable incidents happened two years ago when I was adding hops to a fermentation tank. I wanted to add a richer aroma to the beer but I had completely forgotten that the beer was already highly carbonated. The moment I opened the hatch and dropped in the hops, the foam exploded like a geyser, shooting all the way up to the ceiling! 2,000 liters of beer splashed across the walls and floor, and I spent hours cleaning up the mess.
Despite mishaps like this, what keeps me truly passionate about brewing is the joy of sharing it with others. Every time someone tastes my beer and tells me it’s ‘the best they’ve ever tasted,’ I feel a sense of accomplishment that’s hard to describe. This sense of fulfillment continues to motivate me and have a positive impact on my daily life.

Running a brewery has many similarities to my work at LG Energy Solution Wrocław. At the brewery, I constantly identify problems, analyze solutions, and find effective solutions. Managing stress and making rational decisions to keep everything running smoothly has become second nature to me, and these skills directly help me in my professional life at LG Energy Solution.
Another valuable lesson I’ve learned is the importance of teamwork, which is helpful for my work. Coordinating with my brewery partners, managing different stages of the brewing process, and adapting to unexpected situations have helped me become more flexible in handling tasks. These experiences have also strengthened my relationships with my colleagues and mentors at LG Energy Solution.
What makes it possible to successfully balance both work and my hobby is our flexible work system. I follow a four-day work, four-day rest schedule, which gives me plenty of time to fully enjoy my hobby. On my days off, I often meet up with colleagues for beer tastings, exchanging feedback and ideas. I believe this flexible work environment is one of LG Energy Solution’s greatest strengths.
My ultimate goal is to open a brewery-restaurant in my town—a place where families can gather on weekends to relax, enjoy great food, and taste high-quality craft beer. I dream of creating a multi-purpose space with a hotel, restaurant, brewery, and café all in one location. I hope to turn this dream into reality with my brewery partners!
