Hello! I’m Dorota Zakiewicz, a quality engineer working hard in the electrode department at LG Energy Solution Wrocław in Poland.
My greatest passion these days is folk dancing—a love for this fabulous dance instilled in me by my parents. My parents were avid members of a university folk dance club during the 1980s and continued their hobby long after graduation. As a child, I spent many late evenings in rehearsal halls with them, where I naturally developed an appreciation for the beauty of folk dance!
I officially began my journey with folk dance when I entered university. One day, a poster for a folk dance club on the department bulletin board caught my eye. Since I’ve always loved dancing, singing, and playing sports, it felt like the perfect hobby for me. From that moment on, I was completely hooked, and my passion for folk dance has only grown over the years.

For the past five years, I’ve been dancing as an active member of the Wrocław Dance and Music Ensemble. Our group is named after the city of Wrocław, the capital of the Lower Silesian (dolnośląskie) region, and was formed to preserve and celebrate Polish folklore. We perform around 12 traditional Polish choreographies and have recently added some international choreographies to our repertoire. Our performances span local festivals in Wrocław as well as cultural events abroad, making us ambassadors of Polish tradition for a long time through various festivals.
In folk dance, two elements are particularly close to my heart. First, the vibrant and intricate costumes. They should not only be visually stunning, but we strive to honor and preserve the authenticity of traditional Polish attire. Equally important is the harmony within the group. While individual talent in spinning or singing can captivate an audience, the true magic lies in synchronized movements with a partner. A flawless pair can leave an impression that far outweighs ten pairs.

My ability to wholeheartedly pursue folk dance is thanks to the support I receive from LG Energy Solution. When our ensemble celebrated its 70th anniversary, the company went above and beyond to help, even featuring us in an internal newsletter. I took the opportunity to write about the experience to promote the beauty of folk dance, and I was thrilled to see it published. Sharing the joy and cultural significance of folk dance with my colleagues was truly rewarding.
Additionally, my team leader and coworkers have been incredibly supportive, allowing me the flexibility to juggle work and rehearsals without compromising my responsibilities. Thanks to LG Energy Solution’s efficient and adaptable work environment, I was able to dedicate time to my passion without disrupting work, for which I am truly grateful.
Looking ahead, I think I can continue to enjoy folk dance as a hobby, through which I hope to maintain my physical well-being and express myself through singing and dancing! My ultimate goal is to preserve Polish traditions for future generations. This aligns with the mission of the Wrocław Dance and Music Ensemble: to keep our cultural heritage alive in a rapidly modernizing world. Our performances are a meaningful way to connect audiences with the beauty of Polish traditions, and we’re committed to making every effort necessary to ensure they never fade away.
